How it all fits together

Motion Base Electronics

To go with our motion base software, we now have a range of printed circuit boards. They are specifically designed to match the configuration of Motion Drive 3.0 and connect to the USB modules that are part of the Motion Drive package.

Now bringing your motion base project to life has just become alot easier!!

How many do I need?
The number you need for your project depends on the motion platform you are building. If you are using Motion Drive 3.0 as your software the following table will help:

Two Axis
Three Axis
Two Motors/Drives
Need 2 DACs
-
Three Motors/Drives
Need 2 DACs
Need 3 DACs
Four Motors/Drives
Need 2 DACs
Need 3 DACs

Intermediate Board

This board makes connecting up some of your platform electronics really easy. Using this you can connect all the components that connect with USB module #2 in the Motion Drive package - Drive Control pins, Drive Reverse pins and all your platform sensors. On the output side are connections through for the control signal for our DAC board, switched medium voltage reversing signals and connections for an ignition circuit and "Ignition On" LED. LEDs are also on board for reversing signals and sensors.

Technical Specification
Input Capability

12 inputs for platform sensors (4 per axis).
8 TTL inputs from USB module for DAC control signals and drive reverse signals.
External DC power source for up to 4 reverse relays (activated by reverse pins) and Ignition circuit and LED.
Gnd and +5V from USB module (3 off).
Gnd and +V inputs from up to 3 DACs

Output Capability 12 output TTL signals to USB Module.
Drive control signal for up to 3 drives for use with motor/drive controller boards in voltage follower mode.
Reverse signal for up to 4 drives.
Ignition circuit and "Ignition On" LED
Other Features On board LEDs for all 12 sensors and all 4 reverse relays.
Fixed 10K resistors across drive outputs - needed for voltage follower mode.
Connections

Inputs/Outputs to/from USB module via IDC 10-way headers (3 off).
All other inputs/outputs via rising clamp screw terminals.

Size Approx 150mm x 100mm

Replacement or Additional
USB Module

This module is configured to and sold only in conjunction with Motion Drive 3.0 software. This is for those that need to add to or replace the USB modules that come with your Motion Drive software package.

Replacements: - should your USB modules become damage or non-functional and you need a replacement, we can supply a module ready configured for your motion platform.

Additions:- The Motion drive package is supplied with two modules included. This is sufficient for all platform configurations except those 3 axis platforms which have four drives/motors. If your platform is planned to be a 3-axis, 4 drive design then we can supply the extra USB Module at the time of buying Motion Drive 3.0, preconfigured. If you are upgrading we can supply the extra USB Module later, also preconfigured.

Please let us know if this is a replacement or additional module at the time of purchase.
